PA GOP says "California's recall looks fun. Can we play too?"
<a href="http://www.kyw1060.com/news_story_detail.cfm?newsitemid=31633">Pa. GOP May Want to Recall a Governor (KYW)</a>
From the article: <i>The problem with Governor Rendell, [House Republican spokesman Stephen] Miskin says, is his efforts to advance his agenda. </i> Were they expecting Rendell to hold a four-year bocce tournament, instead of pursuing his agenda after being elected? |

The Reps are in shock just thinking an elected official might carry out some of his campaign promises. That could set an ugly precedent.

Rendell promised to raise taxes through the roof? I don't recall him emphasizing that on the campaign, though he didn't deny it either.

Didn't he promise fiscal responsibility?
Well then, he be fiscal, and it be your responsibility. ![]()

You guys talk, but I heard the man speak one time when he came to a HS near here. He was remarkably blunt for the people of SW PA, and he didn't care. While everyone else in this region in this collective state of denial as to how bad the city, county, and state are at this time, Rendell came out and told the crowd "Look, we're nearly at the bottom of the barrel among the rest of the states in the country any way you look at it, most every college student we teach is splitting to find work elsewhere because we've got nothing here for them, that is when we can keep them here for college at least - the ones that can, they go out of state as soon as they get that diploma. We're in the shitter. I'll work to fix it, but it's gonna cost."
I plan on moving out of PA after I graduate still, unless a major VG company should happen to put a division or sprout up here. However, I won't be able to do it three hours after commencement, which means I'll be here awhile. If I need to spend some extra money to make sure I got a place to work in that meantime, I'm satisfied with the tradeoff.

Err, Chewie, higher taxes don't keep business in-state. Quite the contrary, actually.

But higher taxes can, if used correctly (yes, I know, BIG FAT ASSUMPTION), make the state a more attractive place to live for workers which can attract businesses there.
For example, I know people that really want to live in Oregon precisely b/c the goverment there has taken things like land management extremely seriously and implemented its policies effectively.

PA is 7th in population I believe, but 2nd only to FL in the number of SS checks received each month. The cute young chicks are leaving. Raise taxes if necessary to stop this exodus.

Unfortunately, these liberals who want to live in Oregon because of its <strike>socialist</strike>New Urbanist policies can't because the policies implemented there have made rents and land prices shoot sky high within the Urban Growth boundaries and housing unavailable outside them.
