Angry Dumb and Dumber

Dale Petroskey, the President of Baseball Hall of Fame just canceled a Bull Durham 15th anniversary party because Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon are vocally anti-war and not supporting our troops.

Since all US servicemen take an oath to support and defend the Constitution, I find this action ironic. Also, he seems to have taken this action without consulting anyone, including his own board, the local chamber of commerce, or anyone else associated with the event. Maybe this guy is angling for Saddams old job.

Congress was about to pass a law removing judicial discretion when applying sentencing guidelines to child abuse cases. However, a Republican congressman has added language which would limit judicial discretion in all cases. Since this was not the original intent of the bill and goes beyond the subject of the bill, it was being challenged on procedural grounds but appears to have passed anyway.

Chief Justice Rehnquist and many federal judges have spoken out against Congress severely limiting judicial discretion.

It would be really nice if after our troops are finished defending the Constitution, they could come back and find that it still exists.

I actually thought about moving somewhere else, but unfortunately there aren't any English-speaking countries that are any better when it comes to this kinda stuff. It's pretty sad. Me and my one vote.

Not to critique your grammar too much Juju but you have an unnecessary qualifier. I believe what you meant to say was, "there aren't any countries that are any better when it comes to this kinda stuff." By adding in the qualifier 'English-speaking' you suggest there are a few better, but they don't speak English. It's an easy mistake. Glad to clear it up.
Hey Rich, don't worry, the Constitution will be here. It'll be displayed in a museum between a Gramophone and a butter churn. Someday our kids can look at it and wonder what it must have been like when people actually used these things.
Not that I'm cynical or anything ...

Ah, it was no mistake. I've read about a few countries that I thought had pretty good political setups going for them. I can't remember which ones right now, but I do remember that none of the ones I liked had residents that spoke English. So the qualifier is necessary, as I'm unwilling to live somewhere where I can't understand anyone.

Not since the gun registation/confiscation deal.

Crime rate's up, esp. home invasion robberies.

I have a deal with one of my doc's at work. He's from Ghana and intends to retire there. He's one of their traditional hereditary tribal chiefs (really). He says that although white americans are a rarity there, they get treated really well. (and this is throughout the course of several revolutionary govt's.)

Land's REALLY cheap. And he needs a Head of Security for his royal compound. (I've already been discussing design issues on his residence, which he is in the course of designing and building, that will be of assistance in this regard.)

(He was talking about a friend of his who spends time every night on his front porch and fires a couple of shots in the air. This "discourages" the "bad people," because they won't come near anyone with a firearm. Sounds like a good time. It may be a little hot for my tastes though.)

Depending on which countries, juju, you might be able to get by on English alone. Though, it would be nice to learn the country's respective language. Because if you didn't, you would be just like the morons that come here that don't learn English.

Maybe when the troops come back, they'll go to DC and free us.
