Roadside America
Is a great site for off the beaten track and unusual things to see on your travels. We always refer to it on the road and have seen some neat weird things. And been on several wild goose chases
Just went there to recommend it to someone travelling this week and found this place "trending" Cathedral of Junk in Austin Texas http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/7816 Anyone seen this? www.roadsideamerica.com

Nope, never seen it. There's a lot of stuff like that in Austin. I'm glad that he says he just did it because he liked it, not because it was some profound piece of art.

I thought you were referring to this place,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roadside_America Just a note the scale is listed as 3/8th inch to the foot and the trains are 'O' gauge which is nominally 1/4th inch to the foot. The original display used Standard gauge trains but switched to 'O' gauge when the larger ones became hard to find. I went there several years ago but the display was deteriorating because the daughters are running it and didn't have the mechanical ability to keep it up, but I understand that has changed. I've heard that someone has come in to help keep it up and do the necessary repairs. It would really be nice (from my perspective) if they would switch back to standard gauge now that new equipment is available. |

Makes one wonder, do they barbecue the bait when it gets old, or is the bait the old barbecue? |
