Shit! It's almost Christmas!
I can't believe it's already the 23rd of December. This year has blown by so fast...
My goal this year was to have the tree up and decorated and all the lights up on the windows the weekend after Thanksgiving. Well, that didn't quite pan out. I was going to do it the following weekend, but was under the weather, IIRC. I was going to do it last weekend, but was bedridden a good part of the weekend with vicious back spasms. This weekend was sheer laziness...fuck it. No lights on the windows. I was going to go ahead and put up the tree b/c... The original plan for Xmas for Rho and I was to go to Baltimore and spend it with her family...Rho has only seen her family twice since we moved to Philadelphia, and has not been to Baltimore since last Thanksgiving. We were going to go down there on the 24th and stay until the 29th. But Rho was on the unemployment dole for 2 1/2 months, and we're just getting back on our feet...not to mention, Putt-putt could use some work before we take her on a long distance drive. We told her parents that we would not be coming... Well, Mrs. Strickland was just not going to hear this nonsense! Damnit, you are coming down here...rent a car and I'll pay you back for it. Rho and I already had the 25th and 26th off...well, okay, we'll come...twist my arm already! ![]() (I have to give mad props to my in-laws. They've been incredibly helpful to us since Rho was diagnosed with ESRD last year. Not that they weren't before the health situation, but they've really stepped up to the plate for us in the past 18 months.) So, now we're going to Baltimore on Tuesday night and returning Thursday night. Well, the tree is up, but undecorated...since we'll be out of town during Xmas, why even decorate it? My God...I thought Rho would beat me silly on this suggestion. And truth be told, I got the tree all nice and shaped out...it'd be a shame not to decorate it. So, that's what we're doing later tonight...maybe I'll leave it up for an extra week for the hell of it. So today, Rho and I will get each other's gifts (they're simple enough so that we won't have to deal with mall mobs), decorate the tree, and pack our bags for our little jaunt south. It'll be nice to get away for a couple of days. Rho's Aunt Helen is holding festivities, so the food will be so good, you'll smack yo' mamma down! Not to mention, we can head over to Ellicott City and pick up some pizza from Ledo's...my God, I miss that beautiful place. The best pizza I've had since leaving St. Louis. *drools* And I think I'll take my bottle of Penn Dutch Egg Nog along...I still have 3/4 of a bottle left. ![]() Whatever all of you plan to do for the holiday...be safe, eat well, and enjoy the day. If you don't celebrate Xmas, enjoy the day off. Last edited by elSicomoro; 12-23-2002 at 06:45 AM. |

We finally got our tree up tonight. God, it's a pathetic sight. Charlie Brown woulda kicked it to the curb.
But it's our first tree. And Al likes eating the branches. So it's all good. |

Our tree got ruined :\ But we're gonna get a little tree and put it up in the townhouse on the 27th after we move in. It might be late, but by golly, it'll be Christmas.

Alright you stoopid bastards, I'm signing off for a few days...I get out of work at 1, then I have to run home, decorate the tree (don't ask), pack, then run out to the airport and pick up our rental car (again, don't ask).
Have a great holiday folks! ![]() |

Alright fools, back at the crib in Torresdale after a few days rest out of town.
We got an Oldsmobile Alero, which was pretty sweet--this is one of the cars I am considering buying, so this was like a test ride. I'm impressed...decent handling in the snow, good pickup, lots of room. I also discovered this afternoon that it has a CD player, after thinking that it didn't. That's alright...I'll have the car until tomorrow night, so I'll play with it on the way to work tomorrow. Xmas dinner was alright...it just didn't seem quite as good as years past. Still better than anything Rho and I would have made. My in-laws were cool...my mother-in-law was not as goofy as usual. I got a few DVDs from Rho (though she hasn't given them to me yet), and we got $$$ from the in-laws (complete surprise), which we'll probably put towards a PS2. (I figure renting PS2 games and DVDs are relatively cheap sources of entertainment...always a good thing.) Oh, and my mom sent the new DVD player (which I don't think will play European DVDs, since it has a region 1 code on it...damnit!). It's the thought that counts though, so it's all good. Rho got a gift certificate from me to Lane Bryant, which I haven't actually bought yet. ![]() Today, Rho and I hung out with Dave, Jenni, Jeni, and Paul (tokenidiot) in Fairfax. We dined on Italian...good stuff. Dave took us inside his house...what a mess. Thank God no one got hurt...and hopefully Tinkerbell will find her way home. Hope everyone had a nice holiday...or day off. |
