Hi Mom!

My mother, who passed away half my lifetime ago, is much on my mind today (because of her peculiar view toward St. Patrick's Day.) No matter how old you are, you always miss your mother!

I've said this before (every year, probably, but) -- She made me wear orange to school on St. Patricks day. "Cause we were Orangemen. She had this little "thing" against Catholics.

(Read--she hated them with a fiery passion. Frenchmen, too. I don't get it but, whateva.)

Heh. I used to put a rubber snake on my shoulder for St P Day. Hardly anyone got it.

Hi to your mom!

I know my mom misses her mom all the time. I miss grandma too.

She probably had cause - or her ancestors did. Power corrupts and at one time the Catholic church had it in gobs.

yeah, but that was in the 17th century. That's a long fucking time to hold a grudge. I know there's still fighting about this in Ireland, but my family has been over here for over 300 years.

My grandmother who only died in 2005 felt pretty much the same...who knows why. Luckily we lived in a different state to her and didn't have to hear about it too much.

momwolf, as a good Irish Catholic, sent me to school every year bedecked in Green with extra shamrocks.

I don't celebrate Genocidal Maniac Day. I wore green yesterday only because I was at a training class (psychological response to CBRNE terrorism) and had to wear my official CISM team shirt, which is hunter green.

I wore a two decades old Irish Nat'l Team Jersey to school Thorsday but not as a celebration of Roman Imperialism or alcoholism.
