Art made with Excel Cells
I saw this on Monday Through Friday. At first I was like "Huh?" but then I did quick a proof-of-concept.

hmm. am unimpressed with the "art" but . . . might be useful for needlework or other grid-based crafts (if there are any others) to make patterns.

Why is this different than making your own pixelated pictures in Paint? I guess because you can copy and paste, so patterns go faster?

Oh, it's not "better" in that way. You can copy and paste in Paint even faster is you have an even hand and are working at a high magnification. Doing it in Excel is just mega geek-cred. It's like, even better than ASCII art. IT'S A SPREADSHEET.

Poindexter was the nerdy guy from the game Mystery Date.
I'll be damned if I can find a pic of anyone but that beach guy.

I used Excel that way to create the pattern for my MIL to knit Thomas the Tank Engine sweaters for the kids. 8 years ago.
