NFL schedule
This week the NFL playoffs begin. 3 of the 4 games are re-matches of games played last week. I assume that the NFL wants to schedule teams that are involved in the playoff hunt for end of season matchups. Eagles vs Cowboys is an easy one.....but the Packers/Cards and Jets/Bengals seem like long odds.
If you were in charge of week 17 for 2010-2011 season, and the goal was to have teams that were in contention for playoff spots play each other....max drama, max ratings..... who plays who in week 17? credit ElHawks for thread inspiration.....although you nerds will probably ignore this one.

So the play-offs aren't predetermined by division/place order?

the playoffs are determined by the best record.... and seeded according to a semi complex system.
this year, the Saints are the #1 NFC seed, Vikings are #2. those two have earned Bye weeks, and can rest this week.
