Club 10,000

I have been carrying around a pedometer pretty regularly for the past few weeks. I even got a new one when Tink told me she wanted hers back. I programmed it for my stride length and weight, and now it can calculate how far I've walked, how many calories it thinks it takes to carry myself that far, and how much time I've spent in motion.

I plan to join the 10,000 step club. But I'm not there yet. I keep thinking "I'll make a thread, that will keep me from backsliding" but I have been successful (until now) in avoiding closing that avenue of escape. No more. I'll report my step count (and if I'm really bold, my weight, distance, time, and calories) each day (jaysus, did I say that out loud? *every day*? you idiot, now you're screwed). My progress, or lack thereof, will be just as public as it is now, only to more decimal places of precision. And I won't be able to hide it with baggy clothes.

I've found that when I put the pedometer on first thing in the morning, if I look at the readout just before I reset it, I think that will be the high water mark of my mileage for the previous day. None of them have been over 10,000 steps so far. Dammit. Ok, let's get started.

Yesterday's total steps: 8883. See you all tomorrow.

Jog in place and work up a sweat. Always take the stairs, up and down.

when wanking, move the whole body to step forward and backward while the hand stays in place, rather than the more traditional action.

A lot of people waste their money on gyms, working out on the stair-steppers. I just go up the down escalator at the mall.

One story climbed, 1000 steps taken.

Oh sure, 50 people pissed off, but hey, no pain, no gain.

it seems to me that that might be the last thing you'd ever do.

Admit it BigV. "Club 10000" - you're just trying to taunt lumberjim.

I was talking to the manager at a grocery store and he told me he walks about nine miles a day, according to his pedometer. Great exercise.

No, not "just trying to taunt". Everything I posted here is the truth. The taunt is pure bonus.

And I have found that it's about 2000 to 3000 steps to the grocery store, round trip, depending on how directly I travel. It's a nice walk, and there's almost always something to get from the store before coming home. I used to drive to the store, then go home. I'm trying to establish the habit of coming home first, then walking to the store for the goodies. Keeps the shopping in check too since I have to carry it all back. Yesterday I did cave and drive to the store since I knew I wanted a 10 lb bag of potatoes.

The library is about the same distance in the opposite direction and I love that walk too.

Just checked---2587 steps right now, midday at my desk... I better find a reason to travel.

Laterz!
