New US passports

My wife and I received our new US passports and I am pleased that they are the old stock of ones with out the new ID chip. I'm not overl paranoid but I've read too much about the chips being read by other devices and releasing privacy information. However the new ones are different in that they seem to scan the 2 x 2 inch photo onto some type of film and then laminate it to the page, not like the old passports where they actually sealed your picture under acetate. These look like they will be harder to mess with.

Oh, he'll never return,
no, he'll never return,
and his fate is still unlearned,
poor old Beestie....

He'll regret his error,
in a cage at Gitmo.
He's the man,
that never returned.

Could you keep it wrapped in foil, or a foil lined sleeve to be less obvious, when not presenting it to customs?
