Shoud I be scared?

The amazon.com product recommender just sent me a page of backup generators, just in case I get "severe weather."

Is the amazon.com product recommender really that good? I mean, I have been very pleased with books and stuff that it's suggested, but, well ... how does it know??

Maybe Amazon knows something about Bin Laden that we don't.

No, I already have those ... and besides most of that kind of thing I buy for cash.

I'm impressed that you get a product recommender. That is pretty cool.

Back in the day, they used to send me coffee mugs and stuff because of the obscene amount of money I was sending them every month.

Well, considering that my tastes are eclectic to start with, and then you factor in all the gifts I've bought at Amazon for various relatives of various ages (it's much easier to order online & ship to folks 500 miles away, rather than packaging it and taking it to UPS yourself), and a random selection of non-book items from a leaf blower to brake pads for Rollerblade skates, there's no telling what they'll recommend for me on any given visit.

They sent you that for the same reason the TV weather people are running around screaming today is the start of hurricane season. Drumming up paranoia to be converted to headlines(profits) later.

When this stock goes up, some type of terrorist activity follows. With a last rise was a pathetic attempt to attack the largest Saudi oil terminal. Those attackers were intercepted miles from their target. And then ASEI stock dropped.

Need we worry today? The chart:

Remember the twilight zone episode where the guy sells things that people need before they need it - the scissors to the guy whose scarf gets caught in the elevator? "You need a new pair of shoes".
