Only a question of Geroge Jr's Integrity?

Which is more important? Philosophical mindsets, such as religious beliefs, or the realities of life. When your leader has a shortage of intelligence and when his strongest supporters are religious zealots, then screw the world in favor of an extremist minority viewpoint.

A recent '60 Minutes' story of George Jr who told Sharon to withdraw immediately. But then religious extremists such as Jerry Falwell can protect Sharon since right wing religious extremist like the conflict being waged in the occupied territories. They rationalize that such conflict is Biblical prophesy - and that is enough to encourage more of it.

The Nobel Prize committee is even more blunt about how dangerous our ignorant president is:

But comments by the committee's chairman, Gunnar Berge, were expected to generate as much interest as Mr. Carter's selection.
In remarks to reporters after the announcement, Mr. Berge said that Mr. Carter had been nominated for the peace prize "many, many times" but that a major reason that he was finally selected was that he represented a counterpoint to the militancy of President Bush.
This is the same president that says arsenic in drinking water is not a problem after a decade of research (from educated people) had stated otherwise. But then when you are more concerned about your minority supporters (those rich contributors) than in Americans, then reality and facts become irrelevant - especially if using a bean counter education.

Destroy stem cell research because it threatens beliefs of religious zealots. Be so mentally constrained as to call RU-486 murder. Best way to protect religious extremists is to subvert organizations of science:

In a particularly controversial case, the Food and Drug Administration has asked an obstetrician-gynecologist who strongly opposes abortions to serve on the panel that reviews reproductive health drugs. The doctor, Dr. W. David Hager, teaches at the University of Kentucky and has written popular books asserting the healing power of faith in Jesus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, meanwhile, is considering a toxicologist who has advised the lead industry for a panel weighing the contentious issue of whether the federal government should lower its acceptable limits of lead in the blood.
Last month, The Washington Post reported on a series of changes, including some involving a committee that advises the disease control centers on matters of environmental health. ...
One scientist being replaced is Dr. Michael Weitzman, a pediatrician at the University of Rochester whose five-year term has expired. Dr. Weitzman, who has argued strongly that low levels of lead in the blood may be dangerous in children, said he was mystified as to why he was not reappointed.
"I've taken care of thousands of cases of lead poisoning, and am maybe the senior pediatrician currently still taking care of children and doing research on lead," Dr. Weitzman said. "I'm not a zealot. So why would you take somebody like me off?"
Mr. Markey was critical of Dr. Weitzman's removal. He also criticized the selection of Dr. William Banner, a pediatrician who is medical director of Oklahoma's poison control center. Dr. Banner has consulted with the lead industry in a Rhode Island lawsuit against lead paint manufacturers, and questions whether low lead levels are truly harmful.
In an interview, Dr. Banner said giving advice to industry should not disqualify him.
No wonder this president distorts reality. If Iraq was a threat to the US, then it was long since a threat to its neighbors. Where is a single Iraqi neighbor fearful of Iraq? The greatest threat to the US is an extremist, right wing US president that would make America the enemy of the entire Arab world. You think the French are suffering from terrorism? Wait to see what George Jr does to your safety. Did we not learn from mistakes by Reagan in Lebanon? We should have. George Jr was probably drinking then.

Daniel Ellsberg's story (Pentagon Papers) is recently published, in part, because it is so appropriate. His is a story of how previous presidents outrightly lied to the American people so to start or expand another useless war. Its been 30 years. Most readers don't remember Viet Nam. A majority of Americans supported those Presidents for the same reasons - some of them being outright lies. Therefore we are doomed to repeat history. Another misguided president. Another president who would do anything to get the US into war - reality be damned. Also a president who would subvert America's greatest strengths - it sources of innovation - for the benefit of right wing religous extremist beliefs. Beliefs that say that god has told us all we need to know.

Scary people supporting a scary president.

Bush's stacking of committees has been widely reported. Heaven help he try to see all sides of an argument, like a real leader, and not a puppet of his special interests, would. The most recent of this is, of course, the administration's pressure on the CIA to make up reasons to go to war - because what they have are suppositions. Reagan accused Carter of doing the opposite in dealing with the hostages.

It happens all the time. This time, however, the administration is making the world unsafe for Americans, and showing that our democracy is unsafe for the world.
