Hard to get mutton in the USA
I've tried now for a year or so to get mutton over here. Seems like all we can get is lamb, technically not mutton which is older. It is supposed to have a much more pronounced flavor. I read an article that said that Prince Charles is a big promoter of eating more mutton.
Hey, Sundae Girl, if you see the Prince see if he can get me any, OK? |

Around here I get it at Goodings, which is a bit of a drive.

Apart from our liberal gun laws, scarcity of mutton is one of the most desirable aspects of living in the USA.
(btw, I haven't forgotten about the chainsaw, I lent it to someone who is having a hard time returning it.)

Mutton does have a different flavour, but generally it's pretty tough unless you're slow cooking it in some kind of juice, ie casserole or a curry perhaps.
We don't get much mutton in the shops here, and lamb is through the roof price wise so we don't get much of either in our house. I like the taste of mutton though. If you shave a mutton roast and use it for sandwiches with chutney or mint jelly it's really yummmm.

can you get it at Middle Eastern markets? or is that mostly lamb.
Not sure if I've ever really had mutton. (scratches head)
