Being the Bad Guy

We've had a free rider at the fencing club for the last couple of months. The new coach hates off the strip confrontation even more than me apparently, so he came to me to see if I could get money out of the individual. I knew the old coach had trouble with her but wasn't shy about being direct. It went about as well as it could. I got last month in cash and a minor scene as she marched her child out. The upside is the other kid her child's age has made great progress and focuses better when the shirker's kid isn't there.

The daughter could get a lot out of the club but Mom creates a lot of barriers. She actually had an envelope of cash with her but didn't pay the coach before practice, when they were alone... just needed the drama I guess. I'm starting to wonder if her livelihood doesn't involve small packages and large wads of cash. Hopefully that's the last we'll see of her.

If thats the case, just be careful how you deal with her. People tend to disappear around people like that.

Fencing for children - I love it!

Are they any good with gates? The little spring-thingy on mine is broken and won't close by itself anymore.

I'm sorry!

But look, Griff started it with the fencing and Mom creating barriers bit...

I am continually amazed at the number of people in the world who require drama, even for the most insignificant and commonplace circumstances. So many people create it out of thin fucking air...sometimes I do a literal double take when I see it happening.

Are people just that bereft of real, meaningful interactions in their lives that they have to amp up every damn thing that happens in order to feel something?

That gets right to it, I'd say. Like Class says pretty sad.

PS- I'm watching you Rhianne.

I'm a bit surprised Rhianne finds such fencing worthy of so startled a remark.

But I may be biased; most of my ideas of good sporting fun seem to involve swords or guns at some point.

Rhianne's fencing involves no swords.

No, no, no.

She clearly makes her living reselling stolen merchandise.

That's why she wanted her child to learn fencing.
