A walk with Pilau.

The title of this thread is a little deceptive.....Pilau doesn't figure much in the photo's as he wouldn't stay still long enough to get a decent shot:P He appears very briefly in one, running with a friend he met in the field.......one of those rare dogs that he actually likes to play with

It's mostly a few shots of the valley and village as we pass through. As we got to the field near the top of the hill the weather rapidly worsened so the sky is quite bleak looking.....but we were rewarded with a lovely rainbow on the way back home

Very nice, Dana.
Funny how the mood of the place changes with different weather or light.

How beautiful to be able to see so much, so close to home. I love to be high on a hill - especially in windy weather.

Bruce points out the change in mood of the photos, but does it really feel that different? I often think that in landscape photos with whited out skies, the eye is drawn to them, making the landscape look bleaker. In real life all your eye really sees is the hills.

You're looking at the hills, but the sky sets the tone. Bright sunny days are cheerfull...... overcast, threatening, clouds, make it more somber. When the clouds come down close to the ground, it can be oppressive.

Unless you're in love, in which case all bets are off.

We'll agree to disagree then

I know I've deleted photos from my camera because they just look grey and grim - and yet what I was seeing really didn't look like that to me.

Unless..... maybe.... perhaps I am in love after all!?

Thanks for the new wallpaper, Dana! That last shot is awesome (well, they're all beautiful, of course, but the last one needs to stay with me for awhile).

I *love* this aspect of The Cellar's worldwide nature. Seeing sights that are everyday and normal to everyone else fascinates me, because it is *not* my everyday norm. I'm so blessed to have found this place.

Because I didn't grow up around this kind of landscape, I still get a kick out of it. I've been in here about 12 years or so now, and I am still completely in love with the place :P

The sky really does set the tone on that hill. It's so high up and the sky so dominates the view that it really feels close to you. What doesn't really come across in photos is the sense of scale and the fact that you can turn in a near circle and are surrounded by it, stretching off in the distance.

Since I referenced Pilau despite his barely featuring in the thread, here's a quick pic of him: waiting for the 'ok' command, so he can eat his sausagey treat:P Oh.....and a quick pic of his brother Dante, just because I think he's cute:P

They are SUCH cute faces.

So glad you defined what's on the carpet, or that face would have been saying "Oh, I'm sooo sorry Mama, I didn't mean to" instead of PLEASE can I have it please please please!

They are lovely dogs. They have been together since they were born. I went to choose Pilau and he was playing with Dante when I was there (they were about 7 weeks old), then when I brought Pilau home at 8weeks old, my mum took one look at him and went off to buy his brother. They see each other most days, as we live a few minutes away from each other. I think the longest they've been without seeing each other is about 4 days.
