Any thoughts on CSN vs. CSNY?

Crosby, Stills, and Nash had all been disillusioned by their band experience and vowed never to be in a band again, until they hooked up, and heard that magical harmony that happened between them.

Then, they wondered what would happen if they "put four people in a space that only fits three" and the theory was that the result would be "explosive." Any thoughts on CSN vs. CSNY? Was their experiment a success?

Back when the first album was released, I dug it a lot. There were some great songs on Deja Vu...but when CSN was released it became clear that they were better off without Young.

Today, they've become a dreary icon of hippie-wannabee faux nostalgia. You can now buy an offical CSNY used army shirt with an Official Peace Symbol Patch on it from thier site...for $100.

How bogus.

I've seen CSN a couple times. I was hoping for Neil as well but probably like him more on his own.

I'm partial to Neil Young myself.
As far as my experience with live shows, I much prefer csny. As far as albums go, I like them either way/all.

Both groupings had their high points. Overall, CSNY was probably more dynamic, more varied and more exciting.

I liked both
I find Neil Young's solo work to be terribly uneven, but probably that's because he's constantly exploring new ground.

edit ~ Not solo really, but with other people.
