I'd like to make a website

I used to have a really sweet website then I took some bad advice and let it go.

I'd like to have another one, mainly to park my photos, that isn't a wordpress type thing.

Any suggestions?

Check your ISP and the tariff you have with them. Perhaps there is a basic website included. Or else you can upgrade from your current tariff.

If you're looking for a freebie and find such a one without signing away your soul (i.e. rights to your content / sh*tloads of ads) let me know.

I'm out of the business. I can tell you how to set up a domain and who to pay and all that stuff, but the site itself is hassle.

Yeah. I think the thought has passed.

I was just avoiding the actual stuff I need to do, which is why you've all been seeing me around here so much lately.

I re-did my site last year and moved it to Squarespace. You can register a domain with them. They don't have email services though, you would have to use gmail or some other email service. A basic website is $8.00 per month for annual billing ($96.00). It's template driven and quite customizable. The only real drawback is that you are using their templates, so you couldn't move that site design to another web host. Check out my site - www.rjphil.com - for an example.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I had a custom designed site by livebooks back when they were much more affordable and the yearly hosting was the same. I really regret letting it go. It was a great design.

In any case, any excuse to have a look at your work is a good one.

Glad you like it Bruce. I couldn't resist doing that and get comments often (mostly from people who get the references).
