2/25/2004: 1-ton chocolate heart
I was gonna put this up for Valentine's weekend but forgot. Bit it's still an IotD, I think; this is a one-ton heart of pure chocolate, in a Bangkok hotel. If you can't find a heart of gold, this will probably do. And hey - if you don't like it as a heart, it looks like it might only take a few changes to make it into a 1-ton booty. That's if you go about it the easy way. You could also go about creating a 1-ton booty out of this the old-fashioned way - by eating it. |

I'm sure that it's very high quality chocolate and wouldn't taste gross at all.

It looks like it might be cracking at the top. If half of it broke off and killed that chef guy, we could say he died of a broken heart.
har har har. :p |

The man looks like he is spackling the heart with more chocolate.
Is he a heart specialist? I wonder if it is solid, or hollow. It looks to big to be solid and just one ton. |

To answer my own question (because I have no life and the question lodged itself in my head until it drove me to find out the answer),
According to http://www.icco.org/questions/density.htm, The density of chocolate is 80 pounds per cubic foot. A ton of chocolate will then occupy 25 cubic feet. That would be a five foot cube. If it was solid, that chocolate heart would be much smaller. Of course, I'm no chocolate expert (as much as I love eating the stuff). Maybe it is made of some very light, frothy kind of chocolate that would take up more volume. |

I think it was made in separate parts, and the chocolate spackler is trying to conceal the joints.
I used to conceal the joints, only I did in a hard pack of Camel Filters.

Was that the cherry-filled 1 ton heart, or the caramel-filled 1 ton heart? Dammit, now we have to bite off half of it...

I wonder why they named it "Conrad"? Wouldn't Bob or Mike have been just as good?

Hotel name maybe?
I'm with glatt, i'm betting it's the worst tasting brown gunk ever to be called chocolate. Now if we were talking a 1-ton Lindt Lindor..... Hack open the side with an axe and drown in a pool of beautiful halfmelted chocolate....mmm...
