Juju's place archived
Juju wanted to archive his section, so I've created a new area "Archives" which is clickable from the main page, and his forum is located there (and closed for new posts).
Thanks juju for the many excellent threads in it. |

Okay, I've been thinking about this for a little bit and...
It sucks. It completely sucks. It's n00b-a-riffic. Why would you want to do this? Just lock the threads. What else is ever going to go to an "Archive" section? In case we decide we're bored with IotD? What's the point? Lock the threads, okay. Still lame, but it's his weblog. But create a special section for it? Nothing else is ever going to go in there! Just make a sticky thread in juju's whatever it was called that says basically what Tony's post said. Not only that, but because it's a forum instead of a group, it's tabbed over and looks dumb. Why would we ever want to do this? |

Because it pollutes the front page to have dead forums on it, and if the threads are dead nobody's really going to go there anyway, unless they want to see what they said a year ago. What else would go there? I dunno, a few days ago you were gonna depart. I'm sure we will find more use for it over the years.

Yeah, but that was just a prank to elicit a reaction. We both know I'm stuck here for life now.

Awright well, it is sorta lame, but less lame than a locked user-hosted forum on the front page and less lame than just having those threads go away completely.

Well yeah, I agree, and the shot really isn't at you. It's more like, why, juju, must you mess everything up?
I dunno, it just seems like it's really not how we do things around here. |

I wanted to be relieved of the responsibility of posting in my forum, because although it's been wonderful and great, I'm just too busy to keep up with it right now.
Tony doesn't want any dead forums on the main page. But, I would be quite dissappointed to find out that all of my threads had been deleted. I put a whole lot of work into them. So, as you can see, Tony's solution appeases all three of these points, and thus is a pretty good solution. |

Pffft...excuses, excuses.
You will no longer be my official Cellar whipping boy. I will now divide my time between Dave and UT. |

Dave spurts out his usual undirected rage, and suddenly my rational explanations are excuses? What is this, Yankee logic?

The point is that it makes the front page look retarded. While I'm sure no one expects user hosted forums to continue on forever, I agree that at this point it's a matter of which choice is the least lame.
I'd suggest a less conspicuous link to the "archives" on the front page. Maybe just a small "go here to visit archived User Forums". Because there will probably never be anything else Archived, unless another user wants his own forum and then decides to abandon it. |

Perhaps a link near the bottom, next to the "What's The Cellar?" and "Cellar History" links?
