Skype Help Needed - Basic Questions

Anyone use Skype?
I used it in London, but on a laptop where it was already set up.

I'm trying to set it up on the 'rents' PC - with their approval - and it is driving me batshit insane. The direction in Help tell me to click certain buttons under certain options without telling me where those options are!

I am at the very beginning here. All I want to do is find my way to the Directory and Add Contacts. I'm certainly no technophobe, but I can't find a logical route through the Help topics and I can't find anything resembling the answers given in said topics either. It's as bad as eBay!

Oh and if you do you are welcome to have my Skype details. We're getting a webcam and mike this week too

But in the mean time I'll be able to use the instant messaging. If'n I can ever work out how.
