Not to mention, there were no warnings of impending blackouts or brownouts in the US. And as far as New York--it's already been hit by 9/11, and was left a mess after the Blackout of '77. I don't know about you, but I'd say the story as a whole is a big deal.

OK, so it hit a bunch of cities at the same time. I'm not sure how that makes a difference. Now, I can see it would be a bitch if you're on the subway, and have to walk home the rest of the way, but still... it's a power outage.... I guess I'm just ignorant of the consequences. I'm sitting here watching the news, so I see all the people on the street, walking home, mugging for the camera, etc, but still... Vegas's power went down too, and it wasn't a "SPECIAL REPORT" broadcast nationwide...
