A few years ago I was laid off from my job. With no prospects, a family to support and bills to pay, I was on the brink of losing my home. I freaked out, I cried, I ate ice cream and I cried some more. Then I followed my dream and wrote a novel (while several family members told me I would fail miserably - thanks, guys! No autograph for you bitches)

Even while sales were good I still struggled, but more than a year later I was making more at my new author gig than I was at my old office job. I'd hit #1 on Amazon in a couple key categories, and all of a sudden I could once again afford fancy luxuries like food and shelter. Sales are still strong and life is good, but I get WAY too many Tweets and Emails from people telling me they can't afford my book (it's between $2.99 and $4.99 regularly) and that they don't have a Kindle. I know what it's like to be broke as all hell, so I made it free today.

Being a curmudgeon I speculate the book has about reached the end of it's projected sales cycle, and the author made it free to spread his/her name.
