We do need it, but you are right that there is enough hatred for experts and over-sight in this country to make it unmanageable. Remember when Rick Perry ran on getting rid of the Dept of Energy so Trump made him the head of it? He had no idea of the functions of the department. We need sensible bipartisanship to have nice things. To be fair to Rick, he seemed to get on board pretty fast when he saw what they do, but there's always the chance that they'll get shit-canned as part of the
