I've never been too keen on using animated GIF images on the IotD. That is until I surfed upon this blog called
If We Don't, Remember Me which features tiny edits of films, sometimes less than a second. Presented almost without comment, they're very striking.
Animated GIFs are usually quite large, which is why I've avoided them. But if the animation is very short, they will wind up smaller, to the point where a modem user can even see them in reasonable time.
Sometimes they're creepy. Because you don't expect movement in images like this; they're high-def so you expect them to be still.
