Gran Torino

Would probably not have seen this movie otherwise, but Tester-San's brother is deploying to Iraq, and wanted to have a get-together, so he, T-S, another friend, T-S's cousin and I went to see Grand Torino. (T-S's brother's wife and young daughter went to see Hotel for Dogs, which they enjoyed very much).

Gran Torino is not the movie that I expected. Or rather, I really didn't know what to expect, other than Clint Eastwood doing his gravelly voiced best as a crotchety old man who had stayed behind in a neighborhood that was passing him by.

It was funny, tense, exciting, frustrating, and bittersweet.

Also, I think I may have learned a couple of new racial epithets.

The scenes with the barber were hilarious.

All in all, it was quite good, and I'm glad that T-S thought ahead and had plenty of tissues for the end.
