Monterey Bay: When I was a kid I worked at the Boardwalk on the beach. Tourists from all over the world would show up and often would point across the bay at Big Sur which sort of rises up abruptly from the end of the Monterey peninsula and ask, "what's that?"
I'd always tell them "Hawaii". Many believed me.
