Dec 8th, 2019 : 11 Hour Flight to Nowhere

A KLM Royal Dutch Airline flight took off from Amsterdam headed for Mexico city. They were a half hour behind schedule, I guess
some passengers are more difficult to get aboard than others, but everything was cool as they crossed the North Atlantic.
Over Canada they got the word, said nope-nope-nope, then turned around flying back to Amsterdam landing 11 hours after they
left that same airport.

Over Canada they had been informed that Popocatépetl, a volcano 43 miles from Mexico City had farted a cloud of dust which
can be lethal to jet engines.

They were flying a Boeing 747-400 Combi with several classes of seats, carry on storage facilities, kitchens toilets, and cargo
boxes in the back of the lower deck.

But why not land in the US and shuttle from there?
It gets expensive with hotel accommodations and complicated with no visas and passports the US might not accept.
Plus a large number of passengers might be quarantined.

So back to square one was the best move.
