April 7, 2012 Fabreges Eggs

In the beginning, Tsar Alexander of Russia asked Faberges to create one new egg each year. Later, the future Tsar Nicholas II increased the order to two a year: one for his wife and one for his mother.

The eggs are made of precious metals or hard stones decorated with combinations of enamel and gem stones.

The eggs represent an imperial Russia and the original pre-Bolshevik revolution eggs sell for millions of pounds.
