It depends. There are plenty of instances where medical screening has been dialed back because it was found to be detrimental. 80 year old men with newly found prostate cancer really don't need to know about it. They will die of heart disease before the prostate cancer gets them, and the urologist is going cut them and make their final year or two miserable if they go after the cancer. Better not to know.

There are many other similar examples.

For a 20 year old kid, it's probably worth learning about issues.
