In 2011 Artillery Sergeant Michael Nicholson lost his right leg at the hip, left leg above the knee, left arm below the elbow,
plus traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress, to a 40 lb roadside bomb.
After 33 surgeries and some dark days, his wife got him into sports.
Last July at the Department of Defense Warrior Games, he competed in the 100-meter(silver medal), 200-meter(Gold medal) and
400-meter racing chair.
Also the 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard backstroke, 50-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle and a relay event in swimming.
He also played golf at The Invictus Games in Toronto, last September.
He has 12 year old girl, and a boy under a year, so he’s still an artilleryman.
