I thought it was about the attitude of teenagers in general, although a hair comment is more specific to girls.
In my experience, teens will focus on the least important detail in order to dismiss something as "completely lame". Prejudiced? Yes. But so much humour relies on that.
That's why it made me laugh, anyway.
