Used to be the US Cavalry kept a special squad of all-black funeral parade horses for the processions of politicians and military men. The last original Cavalry horse before they were disbanded was Black Jack, who walked JFK's funeral with the President's boots in his stirrups--backward, if I recall, something symbolic. Interesting to see they got greys for this event, and although I'm not GREAT with military stuff of any kind, I've seen Marine dress uniforms up close and the fellas walking in the back sure look like what I remember of that. A beautiful and evocative choice!
