What the Hell is Going on in Canada?

Where there are people there are rules, and there has always been people who will break the rules.
The media is guaranteed to have stories of stuff getting stolen, but this is crazy.

Saint-Valère, Quebec, 180 beehives stolen from a locked enclosure. The owner had these hives booked for the
coming Blueberry season, and estimates his loss at $180,000.

Saint-Léonard-d'Aston, 130 kilometres northeast of Montreal, theives cut lock, disabled alarm, tilted camera, and stole
465 tons of corn and some soybeans, worth $140,000.

Rougemont, Que, someone stole 140 sapling apple trees, a whole fields worth, right out of the ground.
Book value of the trees is $1700, but will cost the farmer at least 4 or 5 times that to recover.

St-Malo, Quebec, thieves stole 2,000 Garlic bulbs from a field, worth $4,000.

St-Louis-de-Blandford, 160 kilometres northeast of Montreal, some pancake/waffle lovers made off with up to
$30,000,000 worth of maple syrup.

Update: Nevermind, it was only $18,000,000 worth, and the caught the three guys.

This isn't the same as some steaks stuffed down somebody's pants, or smash & grab a necklace, even trying to find out why the victim has to drive around on three wheels. Agriculture is always in the future, the labor now doesn't produce a paycheck at the end of the week or month. It's an ongoing process that is time dependent and time sensitive. For most farmers it doesn't take much to devastate them for many years.
So if you're a nogoodnik, knock off a liquor store but don't fuck with the farmers. m'kay?
