I took at face value, even though the face annoyed me. I'll feel very stoopid if he wasn'the the weirdo he said he was.
I gave him lots of (mental) leeway for missing his wife's child.
Ditto for having gone through National Service, or whatever it's called these days.
We didn't bond or get on, but I'll be completely done in if I was manipulated.
