Not true. Both parties have always had members being assholes... forever. But what came to light in the press just made people grumble at the bar, and forget about it.
The Democrats have plenty of bad guys doing bad shit, but at least try to give some semblance of taking care of business.
But it's the Republicans who have waged an all out campaign of making the government as dysfunctional as possible. The "Great Recession" kicking the average person in the crotch, and hears "
