Let's imagine Comcast is your only Cable TV option.
they call/mail once a month to try and persuade you to upgrade your plan. (I'm bring generous here) you tell them to fuck off or recycle the mailing. then it's the Olympics and you decide you need a sports TV package. So you wait for them to call so you can get a better deal than you might if you went to them. That might make it look like they were successful after x number of contacts. no?
