Finally a school official with some sense.

Quote:
Wilmington, North Carolina-AP -- The parents of a North Carolina first-grader are fuming over a book their daughter brought home from her school library.

It's a children's story about a prince -- whose true love is another prince.

It's called "King and King," and it's about a character named Prince Bertie falling for a character named Prince Lee. The book ends with them marrying and sharing a kiss.

Michael Hartsell of Wilmington says he was "flabbergasted." He says his child is "not old enough to understand something like that." The Hartsells say they're keeping the book until they get assurances it won't be circulated.

The publisher's Web site lists the books as intended for readers age six and up. The school librarian says the book has been on the school's shelves since early last year. And the principal says what may be considered "inappropriate" to one family may be "totally acceptable" to another.
