Monster is right. Also by not taking the vacation you are personally buying in to their crazyass idea that the place can't run without you.
You and they have to learn that you are not the person who does everything around there. The best way for that to happen is by you taking the vacation that is YOUR ENTITLEMENT.
Also, though I don't know US employment law, Monster's last line looks pretty convincing to me.
Please take your vacation time. You need it for the good of your health. You deserve it. You've earned it. It is yours by right.
