August 8, 2012 - Floating Cities
When I was in 5th and 6th grade, I qualified for extra curricular classes to stimulate creativity and critical thought (but in high school they didn't put me on the college track - go figure). My favorite activity was learning about what the professionals thought would be the houses and cities of the future. And so, today I bring you Floating Cities of the Future!
The Seascraper is a green machine with a self-sufficient community of homes, offices, and recreational space.
The Plastic Fish Tower is a mixed use plastic recycling plant.
The Waterscraper is envisioned as a tubelike underwater residence and lab. Beaches, restaurants, a marina, and a dive center would cater to luxury-apartment dwellers and hotel guests.
(I wonder if kids would find enough entertainment without amusement parks and places to grind their skateboards. )
