I don't doubt that a cat could be taught "if you pick the right can when I say 'get me some canned manwich' you get a treat". I just highly doubt that any treat could convince any cat to undertake such a venture! EVEN if it's social and can't live without you - it'd sooner let you starve than get your groceries!

edit: and you say all that as if attention weren't an entirely self-serving venture to cats. My word was "self-benefit". Just because some cats crave constant attention doesn't meant they aren't doing it for them, not for you!

edit edit: also i say this as someone who would almost certainly sooner get a cat than a dog if my apartment allowed animals and it werent goddamn expensive to keep either
