A lot of opinions here. I disagree with this one. I think the thing about blades is that they slice off the top layer of skin cells, so the skin feels tight, and many people mistake that tight feeling for a close shave. Electric razors don't really do anything to the skin, but they tug on the hair as they cut it. (You can actually feel this, especially when the hair is longer.) So the hair gets tugged out as it's cut, and the cut line is lower than the surrounding skin.
I think electrics are just as close or closer than blades.
