if you are on an anime fix, I would recommend
Akira,
and
Princess Mononoke - this one is very thought provoking. It has an amazing man vs nature theme I have never seen done in quite this way before. And great scenery and action too!
...and for sci/fi I would definitely say Aliens. I like it even more than the first one.
