Zippy,

Get a recliner and put it close to the bathroom. Get a pile of wound dressings on standby. Get a whole bunch of canteens filled with water and put them within easy reach of your recliner. Get at least two or three floppy gel ice packs and just keep ice on your shoulder all the time for the first few days. When the ice packs stop warming up then you can back off. Right after the surgery the ice packs will warm up in about half an hour, just keep the rotation going.

Make sure they give you a good sling, one with a pillow to keep your arm slightly elevated. It helps keep the tendon in the right place while it heals. Wear it all the time 24/7. take it off only when you shower.

You'll probably get a horrible rash in your pits since they won't get much air for a few weeks. wash, dry, deodorant, diaper cream, and dry wash cloths.

Forget about sleeping, get an ipod and a bunch of mellow music or books on tape.

Do everything your doctor tells you to do. Do everything your PT tells you to do. Don't try to do anything at all with your arm unless your Doc or PT specifically tells you to do it.

Good luck
