Pilau smells...but he doesn't slobber. I can't abide doggy slobber. I really love Bassett Hounds, but would never own one because of the slobber. Same with Boxers.
Not slobbering was very much one of the criteria I had when choosing a breed. As was the shedding fur. Pilau doesn't moult. he has a double coat that has to be clipped and the undercoat plucked or combed out a few times a year. There are dog hair, but nothing like a shedding breed. Ceertainly not as many hairs as the average cat would leave :P
Pilau has bitten. But that's only when outside and excited. Indoors he has the perfect temperament. He can be lay there chewing on a bone and I can just take it from him. there will be no growling.
He doesn't eat shit, never has. Also never got into that rolling in smelly stuff habit either. Dan does from time to time (maybe once or twice in a year). But it's not Pil's thing.
The only things Pilau chews are the things he's been given to chew. The only exceptions to that being a couple of shoes and a portion of fireplace that he chewed when he was teething. Past a few months old he could be trusted not to chew anything that hadn't been given to him to chew, or left where his toys were. There was one wooden bangle that he chewed up a couple of years ago, but that had been knocked off the coffee table and had landed in amongst some of his toys, so fair play to him :p
Pilau does look a bit wolfy sometimes. But i consider that a plus not a minus
The one really irritating habit he has is digging up the carpet. I consider not having a nice carpet a small price to pay for his company.
