Man, you just reminded me of something I haven't thought about in more than 15 years...

Growing up, we didn't know our neighbors particularly well (mostly because my dad hated the fact that they kept their nasty old boat in the side yard between our houses.) I was only inside their house one time, but they had this fantastic cabinet piece, carved from half of a giant tree trunk. Or maybe it was only designed to appear that way, but it sure convinced me at the time. It was about 3 feet wide and 4 or 5 feet tall, with maybe two dozen small drawers cut all over the face of it, in varying shapes and sizes. The front had been polished smooth but left very wavy, the way a tree's roots tent out around the base, and the drawer fronts undulated with the rest of the surface.

That thing was so cool. Makes me want to go back to the old neighborhood just to ask them about it.
