Well... we have two females with long hair in this house. So it's a given that every 2-3 months, I will have to get down underneath and cut great chunks of spun-up hair out of the brush with the big garden shears. But I always had to do that with the old vacuum too. There is indeed a rubber belt that turns the carpet brush, but I've never had a problem with the brush stopping as long as I periodically cut the hair off.
