As is the case with many things... some of you are not thinking more than one move down the road here. If you follow my blog than you know that I warn about gateway laws. To sum it up...this means that "we the people" would never agree to "plan C" from the jump. But by passing laws that take us to C by first going through "A" and "B" we end up fucked before we know it. All of you have heard the stupid analogy about boiling the frog...this can be applied here as well.
Sure, we are all for catching criminals. But, plthijinx...are you not considered a criminal?? Weather you did it or not. You have already expressed concerns about this keeping you from living life the way you did before your conviction. I can not see how DNA profling will make this any better for you. Why? These people are locating and identifying "criminal genes" in peoples DNA. Hell the second guy got a reduced sentance because he was "predestined" by his genes to be a murderer. Now that worked out pretty swell for him on his sentance...but it will not work as well when he goes out for the McJob.
What happens when your daughter goes out for her first job at Wal-Mart and they tell her to fuck off cuz she has the shoplifting gene. Anytime you give a method of control to one group over another it will be exploited... and to think...we used to have to invent relgions for this kind of nonsense.
I think men should be judged by their actions. Each time. Just cuz I fucked your mother last year does not mean I will now. Hell... now I'm engaged so things are differant. While I had it in me to fuck someones mother before...now I will not. Has my DNA changed? I fucking doubt it.
We choose our actions everyday. While DNA profling might be useful in many cases... I think the bigger picture will be more harm than good and of course the loss of freedoms and opportunities for a great many folks.
Just my two cents... last I checked I worked at a go-kart track so obviously I can't be all that smart...lol.
