Interesting
That would be a real shame, if someone would see a stunning female and instantly assume she has nothing to do with anything technical.
I was going to write this a few postings back, and held off. Please bear with me...
I was speaking from experience. I'm a thirty-something man, a competent developer myself, and very handsome from what people tell me. I am also white, if that unfortunately adds anything to the mix.
I find that in my interactions with others, I seem to just get lucky, real lucky sometimes, and I wonder how. How did I get my job over a stack of 30 other applicants? Why did that cop just let me go without a ticket, when I clearly deserved one? Why did that babe come up and start talking to me out of the blue? Why was my loan approved at a ridiculously low rate, when (I snuck a look at this) others the same day were half a point higher, with the female loan officer seeming so friendly? Why do I just seem to get away with things? And why do good-looking people, other males included, seem to make conversation so easily, and are so easily befriended?
I just guessed it was that in the two seconds you have to judge someone by their cover and decide "good guy or bad guy?", they say "good guy" when they see me. They then treat me better than they might otherwise.
