My BFF (when I was 13) and I made doughnnuts at her Mum's house.
My Mum would have pitched a fit at the oil spitting all over the hob. Hers just moaned that she came home to the smell of doughnuts which has all been scoffed.
It was fun - we made a big enough batch of "dough" that we perfected the art. Her bro and step-dad totally approved. FTR, we weren't using anything from a can.
Re the video - I finally understand the word "perky". I don't think we do that here.
Also - do you have the machines that make doughnuts - I'm sure you do.
It was one of my abiding holiday pleasures to stand and watch them being made by machine. Not iced, just dusted in sugar. And then walk away with hot doughnuts in a bag. It was on my List of Nice Things actually. Which I lost when I left my last job
