When I was a n00b waiter in NYC back in the late 70s I fell for that.

One of my cow orkers called the restaurant from the pay phone and asked me to page his friend, Mr. Hunt, first name Mike. It was insanely busy and I was completely distracted. I wandered around for a while paging Mike Hunt.

That was a wild place, paging Mike Hunt was probably the most Presbyterian thing that happened there. We routinely spiked each other's soft drinks with over proof vodka seeing if we could get each other hammered. We'd spike customer drinks esp. if a patron was obnoxious or belligerent. You'd be surprised how quickly a guy who paces himself for three scotch and waters will crumble after three scotch and 100 proof vodkas. The bouncer or bartender would drag him out the back door and leave him propped up in a doorway.

Good times for a 19 y.o.
