The news can be very upsetting, and in repeated doses, depressing. Most of the things I would say have been said already: these things are probably rarer now than in the past, just more effectively reported; the fact that these things are even being reported means we are on the journey to reducing this kind of thing; each person must find their balance between shielding themselves by not looking, and being aware and outraged so they can be part of the solution.
